I am so super proud of this picture and I don't even care. I find such a peace in coloring lately.
I Was The First Chapter 17"So tell me then," I prompted Cayton as he finally sat down with his breakfast. I tried not to focus so much on the fact that Cayton was becoming increasingly embarrassed the more I wanted him to speak because deep down that bothered me. I so wanted to believe that Shai was wrong about Cayton, that he was the 'good' brother but the more I learned the more uneasy I became.
Cayton cleared his throat.
"Our mother she always wanted a girl," he began slowly and kept his eyes focused on his cereal. I took my one piece with two hands and held it to my chest.
"And?" I asked carefully.
He sighed loudly.
"And as I mentioned before, humans are kind of like "
"Pets?" I interrupted harshly and he nodded.
"For the longest time after dad passed, she was obsessed with having a girl. She really believed that if she had a girl than everything would be okay for our family."
"But she had you guys."
"Yes but you know I guess that wasn't e
Halloween Short Story Pt 3The last Halloween was amazing. Alaric really was everything I hoped he would be and watching him carve a pumpkin, kept me excited for the entire year. That winter, all I could think about was seeing him again, spending time with him again and wondering what he would carve the following year. We were both seventeen now, aware but unaware that changes were coming to our lives but we still enjoyed each others company for that one special night a year.
Alaric was waiting for me this year at the window as I flew up that Halloween evening. I blushed as he smiled and opened the window so I could fly in.
"Right on time," he said happily and turned to walk back to his desk which instead of just one pumpkin
"Two pumpkins?" I blurted out as I landed on the desk. "What for?"
"You know why," Alaric said quietly as he sat down in front of me. "I wanted you to have a pumpkin of your own."
"But I can't carve,"
Change of Plans Chapter SevenHe was sitting and leaning against the wall in a corner of his room when Aiden and I walked in. It really did make my heart go out for the poor kid because honestly what's he supposed to do all day? Does he just sit there lost in his thoughts? Can he read a book? Can he listen to music? What exactly does Aiden do with him all day? My thoughts were swimming with all sorts of things I would do with him if I were to choose and stay but I wondered if that was something I was actually up for doing. Could I put my entire life on hold?
"Aiden!" Ezra's loud and happy voice rang out when he saw him enter the room.
"No need to get up Ezra, we'll come to you," Aiden responded immediately and Ezra's face flushed.
"We?" he asked carefully and nodded his head to the side.
"Hello again," I greeted him shyly, though I wasn't even sure why. But when I saw Ezra's face light up even more it reminded me why I

"Was she okay?" I asked Shai as he came storming through the door. He looked grumpy, but my older twin brother usually did so I tried not to be put off by it.
"He doesn't deserve her," he growled and threw his coat across the floor. I ran to pick it up.
"What happened?" I questioned hesitantly. I knew Natalie was becoming a touchy subject for all three of us.
"She was all ready to tell me about what happened with her mother and sister "
"She was going to tell you?" I couldn't help blurting out.
Shai just nodded and went on, "And then Cayton burst in and just had another one of his hissy fits. You know how he is; I mean you lived with him for awhile."
"He gets jealous," I mumbled but realized that I felt the same way. I couldn't imagine how honored I would feel if Natalie decided to open up to me before anyone else. But as always, as the younger brother of a set of twins, I am very often forgotten
I Was the First Chapter 16When I woke up the next morning and Natalie was gone, I have to say that I really wasn't surprised. I mean she wanted her independence and I knew that was important to her. What I wasn't prepared to see was Natalie leaning into my brother who was sitting at my kitchen table. I wanted to throw things; I was so upset that this was happening again. Every time I wanted something whether it be mom's attention, a girlfriend or a new activity, Shai would always swoop in and take it away from me. He was good like that. He was more charming than I was, and I I felt like I wasn't good enough. Again.
Listening to Natalie's broken whisper and how she didn't think I got her in the same way Shai did was just another reminder that I was inferior to him. Eventually he would win Natalie over and Shai just wanted to take her back to her human home again. Or so I thought at the time.
"You really mean t
Change of Plans Chapter SixOkay, so maybe I talk a big game but I have to admit that when I actually sat down with Aiden, mom and dad I was put a little off.
"You're kidding me," I muttered as I looked at the three of them all wearing a different variety of faces.
"It's true Clover," my dad said quietly.
"Don't call me that only Ezra can," I shot back defiantly.
"DON'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!" my dad shouted and stood up out of his chair. "You don't know what you're doing you don't understand."
"Preston Terra please just calm down," my mother replied quietly and Aiden nodded in agreement.
"She's right, we're never going to get through this by shouting at each other," Aiden responded but my father's face continued to darken from red to purple. He shot an accusing finger at Aiden.
"This is your entire fault," he growled. "You set my daughter up. You knew that she would be tempted to go into the ballroom where that thing is kept ."
"He's not a thing
Halloween Short Story Pt 2I thought for sure that he would look for me. I mean I am a pixie after all and I was seen by a human. If humans are so dangerous than why wasn't this particular one tearing out his hair trying to find me? He had plenty of time, I rarely saw him with anyone, but it seemed as if he was still going through his daily routine as if nothing had changed. Never once did I see him sneaking around the forest looking for me. I didn't want to feel offended, but I would have liked to think I was at least somewhat interesting.
Winter came, and for pixies we hibernate when the weather becomes too cold for us to bare and I before I knew it spring and summer had passed and Halloween was back again. It had been so long since the human had spotted me and he seemed to care so little that I assumed that he had already forgotten me. I didn't really see any harm or danger in watching him again this year. It was such a tr
I Was the First Chapter 15I was actually relieved to discover that Cayton's hand was no longer pinning me to the bed when I awoke the next morning. Of course I was happy to be so close to me, but I still had that strange feeling that he wanted me for all for himself. I wanted him, but I knew we could never be equals so I tried not to think about it too much. It was strange to me, but I hated thinking about how lonely I was and wanting him at the same time. It was simply too much of a coincidence. I would never admit it to him, but I really did want to get to know his brothers because I wanted to make sure that the way I felt for Cayton was not based purely on loneliness and chance.
He looked so peaceful sleeping then, his brown eyelashes fanning over his closed eyes. A sleeping giant. I wanted to touch his face then so badly but shook my head violently. This may be one of the rare occasions where I am able to search the house without h
I Was the First Chapter 14"Where is she?" Shai demanded in a loud voice as he entered my house again.
I looked outside. It was dark. I rubbed my eyes.
"You mean Taylor's not back yet?" I asked him sleepily.
"Not just Taylor you idiot both of them are missing! I bet something's happened. I bet someone saw him and her!"
"Calm down, he said they were going to talk, I'm sure they just lost track of time."
Shai started to pace around the kitchen and living room with a scowl. I smirked to myself, if only Natalie could actually see how worked up he was about her.
"I really don't get how you can be so calm," Shai growled as he poured himself a tall glass of cool water from the sink. "You know that humans are prized here. What if Taylor did something stupid like left her out in the open? He's always trying to keep people happy, what if he made a mistake?"
"You really need to calm down," I said with only a slight trace of wo
